Ingredients
Scale
- 1 ½ lbs salmon fillet (with or without skin)
- ½ cup low-sodium soy sauce
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped
- 3 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- ¼ cup salted butter
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp ground black pepper
- 1 Tbsp olive oil (for brushing)
- Optional: sliced green onion or fresh parsley for garnish
Instructions
- Preheat & Prep: Set your oven to 375°F (190°C). Allow the salmon to rest on the counter for about 10–15 minutes so it cooks more evenly.
- Make the Glaze: In a small pan, melt together the soy sauce, brown sugar, garlic, lemon juice, butter, salt, and pepper over medium heat. Stir until everything blends into a smooth glaze—just warm it through without letting it boil.
- Season the Salmon: Lay the salmon in a baking dish, skin-side down. Lightly coat the top with olive oil, then sprinkle with a bit more salt and pepper.
- Glaze & Bake: Pour the soy-brown sugar mixture evenly over the fish. Cover the dish snugly with foil and slide it into the oven. Bake 10–25 minutes, depending on how thick your fillet is (estimate 10 minutes per inch of thickness).
- Optional Broil: For a golden, caramelized finish, remove the foil and broil for 2–3 minutes at the end.
- Finish & Serve: Top with green onion or parsley before serving. This salmon pairs beautifully with steamed rice, roasted vegetables, or even simple noodles.
